BDSP is an organisation set up to look into the needs of pensioners in the Bradford and District Area. We are a completely voluntary organisation, which has applied for charity status. We have acquired an office recently in the Carlisle Business Centre, which has a mail drop address where you can contact us.

Our Chairperson Jean Walker, who founded the group. Jean took eleven people to the television show, Fortune : Million Pound Give-away and was awarded £50,000 to start a Centre in Bradford, primarily for 'The Seniors.'

We are investigating the availability of premises in Bradford, which will accommodate our needs to provide a central complex for older people of Bradford and the surrounding districts. Under one roof, we hope to be able to provide facilities for a Drop in Cafe, Health Advice, Education, Entertainment or just a meeting place where we can learn about different cultural traits and interests.

Our first hurdle was winning the money. Our second was finding an office in which to deal with all the administration involved in such a huge project. We have passed that hurdle recently, by moving into premises in the Carlisle Business Centre in Manningham. Our next goal is to find the actual premises to make our dream a reality. One thing which will help us reach that goal is your ongoing support to enlarge our membership, which will give us more sway with the authorities we need to approach for help to fulfil this ambition.

One of the things we would ask of anyone interested in joining us is to consider becoming a volunteer on the committee or perhaps taking up one of the key positions if there is a vacancy. perhaps you have a special skill, which would be useful to our organisation, that will help us to function more adequately.

We recently also applied for charitable status.

Our Newsletter..

We produced three magazines per year. Called 'The TRIBUNE' (click here) a single sheet of A4 which began in 2006 and followed by a larger 'Special Edition' with a new format for our members's magazine.

We are aways look for new articles of intrest for the next edition; so get writing.
